Weekend in Chicago

Waiting for the train downtown

Our hotel.  We were on the 17th floor.

Gordo's Tiny Tacos for dinner.  Best tacos we've ever had below a dentist office.

Running around a little in the park after dinner

Grabbing a quick breakfast in the hotel lobby

Waiting for the train to the Sears (now Willis, but still Sears to us) tower

There are lots of photo-ops on the way to the Sears Tower elevator...

Chicago hot dog

Deep-dish pizza

I was going to say we were underdressed, but actually I think the Obamas were a bit overdressed for the Skydeck.

Finally up on the 'Skydeck'

Looking down on the I90 traffic jam that the kids thought was super fun last year.

THE LEDGE!  Some of us found this less terrifying than others....

Elly was really the only super brave one.

How thick the glass we were standing on is....

On to the Field Museum

Maximo, the titanosaur

hasenpfeffer.

I knew these kids were weird.

Learning about the ancient times of cassette tapes.

Nathan ran around taking pictures of all the dinos

Going to see Sue, the T-Rex

Selfie with the real skull of Sue

Sue!

Running away from Sue

Learning what T-Rex breath smells like.  Apparently it's rotting meat.

Trying to walk in tar.

You must exit the Sue exhibit through the Sue gift shop.

Great beards of science.

Megalodon jaws. Pretty sure anyway.

Lunch break.

Heading into the pyramid.

Looking down into the tomb.

They must have built the pyramids to protect themselves from the giant squid.

Checking out the main gift shop.

Outside the Field Museum

The bean.

Maggie Daley Park playground

Heading back to the hotel

Checking out the outdoor track around the hotel while we wait for pizza.

Pizza from Giordano's

Pizza cheers!

Doing a lap on the track after pizza.

Super healthy breakfast at Wildberry

Cookie dough waffle.

View from our hotel room

Down to the riverwalk on the way to Navy Pier

We found a monument to submarines built in Manitowoc

Chicago Children's Museum at Navy Pier

Firefighter Doodles.

Building.... something....

Nathan was building the Sears Tower

Driving to the dino dig.

Digging for fossils

Car wash.

Bus driver Doodles.

Making party hats

Doing the hopskotch test to make sure the new hat stays on.

Heading outside to ride the ferris wheel

Riding the Ferris Wheel

Someone was hungry and a little grumpy.

Riding the train back to our car to head home.

Super-cheesy green-screen photos from the Sears Tower.
